POLLEN SEASON HAS STARTED
You can feel the pollen in the air! Tree pollen and mold spores are prevalent now. If you have temporarily stopped your shots, it is a good time to restart before the pollen season hits full force. Just call the office to schedule and we can restart shots this week.
CORONAVIRUS VACCINE UPDATE
Good news! Anyone aged 16 and above can receive the COVID vaccine in Connecticut starting April 1.
For information regarding the vaccine in CT and to register (on VAMS) for the vaccine the link is: Phases (ct.gov)
If you are a Connecticut resident and want to schedule directly with Stamford Hospital, you can call 203-276-7300.
CVS, Walgreens and other pharmacies are starting to give the COVID vaccine. Go directly to the pharmacy website for more information. If you tend to have reactions to vaccines or have ever had a severe reaction to any substance, we suggest receiving the vaccine in an established healthcare facility, however.
For up to date information on the COVID vaccine from the American College of Allergy click HERE.
If you are concerned about having an allergic reaction to the vaccine, please schedule a telehealth visit with us. We are skin testing for allergy to polyethylene glycol (PEG) in our office as this is the major ingredient in the COVID vaccine which is causing the allergic reactions. While testing for PEG is not 100% sensitive, it can help in your decision making as to which vaccine you should get. The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines contain PEG. The J&J does not. Most patients are not getting to pick which vaccine they want to receive at this point in time due to shortages in all preparations.
Additionally, we may be giving out the COVID vaccine in our office when government supplies are adequate and we are on the state list for vaccine administration when they get to additional phases of distribution. We will update this website as we get more information.
Our offices are open for all allergy and asthma services. We are also offering telehealth services. You can perform the visit on your laptop computer if equipped with a camera. Please remember that telehealth visits are more limited than office visits as certain aspects of the physical examination cannot be performed. Telehealth visits can be performed for all the usual problems such as sinusitis, bronchitis, asthma, allergies, etc.
We are the largest provider of allergy and asthma care in the greater Stamford area. We provide services to the surrounding towns of Greenwich, Darien, New Canaan, Wilton, Westport, Norwalk, and all of Fairfield County as well as the rest of Connecticut and Westchester County, New York. In practice since 1991, our allergists take pride in accurate diagnostic testing and expert treatment. Patient satisfaction and comfort are important to us. Our professional and caring nurses and office staff ensure that you will not be kept waiting for your appointment. Our physicians have consistently been listed as BEST DOCTORS in Connecticut and the New York metropolitan region.
In addition to being Board Certified in Allergy & Immunology, our physicians are also Board Certified in their respective fields of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. This means that our physicians have had the same training as Primary Care doctors such as Internists and Pediatricians prior to specializing in Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. Using this knowledge we can put allergic conditions into the larger perspective of a patient’s general health. We are able to care for patients from early childhood to the elderly with a range of uncomplicated to the complex medical issues faced today such as heart disease, diabetes, pulmonary disease, and other illnesses.
